Use the unique LoMaJa Close-Out scoreboard to keep track of the score. Opponents choose either Black or White. The player/team proceeds to take alternating throws at their numbers in the attempt to close them out first to make Tic-Tac-Toe.
Close-out a number by hitting the number three times. When a number is hit, a point is marked on that number. Mark a " / " for 1 point, " X " for 2 points, and a "X with a O" around it to close-out the number. Normal dart scoring applies. (Scoring in the single section counts as one point, scoring in the doubles section counts as two points, and scoring in the triple section counts as three points). The player/team must score three points on any given number before it can be considered "closed-out."
Just like a game of paper Tic-Tac-Toe, the winner is the first to mark a line of three horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Once a player/team closes-out 3 numbers of their color to win at traditional Tic-Tac-Toe they must then close-out the Bullseye in order to win the game.
A unique twist to this game is the Blocker. Each player/team has 2 blockers they can use throughout the game. The #3 and #16 are neutral numbers and can be used as a Block against their opponent. Once a player scores 3 points on the #3 or #16, they can then Block their opponent. ERASE any number your opponent has not already closed-out and use the " # " symbol on the opponents color board. Any number can be blocked as long as it hasn't already been closed-out.
This is a defensive strategy that can be used by each player twice in the game. But shoot for your Blockers strategically. You must use your Blocker immediately after it is closed-out.
The Bullseye must be closed-out in order to win the game in addition to achieving Tic-Tac-Toe. However, the Bullseye can be closed-out at any point in the game. If a player closes-out the Bullseye before getting Tic-Tac-Toe, the player can erase one of their opponents already closed-out numbers. For example if the player who is closing-out the Black numbers has achieved Tic-Tac-Toe using the numbers 2-13-14 but has not yet closed-out the bullseye, the player who is closing-out the White numbers could erase either 2, 13, or 14 from opponent if they close-out the bullseye first. The player closing-out the Black numbers would then have to achieve Tic-Tac-Toe another way now and still close-out the bullseye to win.
